August 2024 Haul and Wrap-Up

August certainly slipped past for me, with some incredible trips and reads! This month I read 25 books, completing my TBR. You can check out my thoughts on the vast majority of these here. I was also very much spoilt with more excellent books and you can see these in my haul section.

Haul:

Near the start of August I attended Waterstones Piccadilly BookFest, which was such a fun day! There, I was lucky enough to The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and Cruel is the Light by Sophie Clark from Penguin’s stall, Fable for The End of The World by Ava Reid from Del Rey and an intriguing bind-up from HarperFire of their upcoming titles.

Olivia-Savannah Roach at Tor sent me Januaries by Olivie Blake, while Harper Fiction sent me You Will Never Be Me by Jesse Q Sutanto and Smoke and Murders by J. L. Blackhurst. Farshore sent me a finished copy of Gentlest of Wild Things by Sarah Underwood and Titan gifted me All The Hearts You Eat by Hailey Piper and Cold Snap by Lindy Ryan.

Also, I was invited by Nina Douglas and Harper 360 YA to a very special afternoon celebrating Death at Morning House by Maureen Johnson, where we met Maureen herself and were all given a signed and personalised copy of the book. We then got to see Maureen and Juno Dawson in conversation at their event that evening. It was such a fantastic day and I am incredibly grateful for the invite.

Finally, while I was in London for the above, I popped into Forbidden Planet and picked up The White Guy Dies First, which I’ve had my eye on for quite some time. I also did a slightly speed run of the Taylor Swift Songbook Trail at the V & A – carrying five hardbacks and a paperback all the while!
