Review: Private Rites

Julia Armfield is one of my favourite writers at the moment - her writing is just spellbinding and utterly beautiful to me, with a definite tinge of darkness too. When I heard the words queer King Lear at the end of the world, I was sold. How did Private Rites live up to my lofty expectations?

June 2024 TBR

Hot on the heels of wrapping up May, it's time to set out my rather ambitious reading goals for June! This month is once again quite a mix of genres, with horror, mysteries, thrillers, fantasy and even a Greek mythological retelling.

May 2024 Wrap Up and Haul

Yet again, May seemed to fly by - with a bit of sunshine and plenty of amazing reads. I managed to complete my TBR and read 28 books in total, massively helped by the two bank holidays. You can check out my thoughts on some of these reads here. I was also lucky enough to be gifted a lorry load of fantastic and highly anticipated reads.

I am but a simple lover of Greek mythology retellings, so when I hear of a new Jennifer Saint, I must pick it up. But what did I think of her take on the Queen of Gods herself, Hera?
