Review: Foul Heart Huntsman
Today, one of my most anticipated reads of the year releases! Foul Heart Huntsman is a force of nature. It brings the Secret Shanghai series to a triumphant finish and wraps up one of the best YA series I have read for the past few years.
Review: Your Lonely Nights Are Over
Today, I'm reviewing Your Lonely Nights Are Over by Adam Sass. This is a bleakly, darkly comedic and campy horror, but do not be fooled - this is a book up to its elbows in guts, gore and grimly accurate social commentary.
Review: A Study in Drowning
From one phenomenal book to another, Ava Reid is an author I am obsessed with. This is a deeply Gothic and atmospheric novel with flourishes of magic, mayhem and murder but it is also one deeply rooted in reality. A Study in Drowning is a masterclass in pacing, characterisation and tension, with a beautiful meditation on stories and who gets to have an authorial voice.
Mini Review Monday #122
It's time for another Mini Review Monday. Today, I'm delving into The Scarlet Veil by Shelby Mahurin, You Could Be So Pretty by Holly Bourne and And Don't Look Back by Rebecca Barrow.
Recent Reads #94
As ever, today I will be briefly reviewing all the books I’ve read since my last post in approximately fifty words. I want to share my full thoughts on some of these books in the future, so I’ll share a brief idea today with the full review to come.
Review: The Reunion
Today, I'm reviewing The Reunion by Kit Frick. This is a sizzling, scandalous and secretly sensitive YA thriller that marries the glamour of elite life with the dirty secrets lying within its foundations.
Review: Damned If You Do
Today, I'm delighted to be reviewing the stunning Damned If You Do by Alex Brown. I went into this knowing very little about this book beyond the premise of a queer Buffy the Vampire Slayer meeting Filipino folklore in this horror comedy about a high school stage manager who accidentally sells her soul to a demon. That intersection of folklore and theatrical drama made me want to pick it up and Brown took me completely by surprise. I was blown away by the strength of this book.
Mini Review Monday #121
It's time for another Mini Review Monday. Today, I'm delving into A Taste of Darkness, You'd Look Better as a Ghost by Joanna Wallace and Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll.
Mini Review Monday #120
Though it is a Tuesday, it's time for another of my Mini Review Mondays! Today, I'm delving into In These Hallowed Halls, Every Exquisite Thing by Laura Steven and How to Find a Missing Girl by Victoria Wlosok.
