With recent events, I could not be silent. I’ve linked here a thread of bail funds to support protesters who are arrested for demanding justice for victims of police violence. Here is the Black Lives Matter Carrd and 74 bail funds to support as well. I will be doing this on every post. If you have the funds to donate, please do but if not, please support and uplift Black voices and sign the petitions.
Last year, I renamed ‘Weekly’ Wrap-Ups to Recent Reads, as I feel like that reflects the timescale between posts more accurately!
As ever, today I will be briefly reviewing all the books I’ve read since my last post in approximately fifty words. This post also explains my concept of ‘The Chosen Ones’ to highlight my favourite books in each post!
Some of these books either aren’t released yet or I want to write a full review of in the future, so I’ll just have a quick thought with the full review to come!

Good Girls Die First by Kathryn Foxfield
🧠🏳️🌈
Wow, this was one hell of an unsettling book. It encapsulates that spine-tingling, psychological form of horror that really burrows under your skin. Full review here.

These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling
🧠🏳️🌈
I wanted to love this book so, so much and while I really enjoyed the central romance and mystery elements, something just felt like it was missing for me. The final reveal of the culprit felt predictable and while I’m intrigued by where a sequel could go, I’m not rushing to pick it up.

Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore
⭐️ 🧠🏳️🌈
I am so in love with McLemore’s work; their writing is just stunning. It infuses every story with magic and I know that I will always find a lush, vividly imagined world filled with brilliant characters. Dark and Deepest Red is no exception to this, weaving a dark and twisted tale that grapples with trauma, being cast out and taught to fear yourself.

We Unleash The Merciless Storm by Tehlor Kay Mejia
⭐️ 🧠🏳️🌈
This duology is just immaculately paced, with Mejia ramping up the tension at every opportunity in this heart-stopping finale. However, we still get plenty of character exploration and a natural, believable rocky continuation of the gorgeous romance at the centre of the story. In a world full of depiction and secrets, love and trust are the only thing you can rely on. A gorgeous tale of female empowerment with high stakes, found family and an intense, dark storyline.

The Damned by Renée Ahdieh
⭐️ 🧠🏳️🌈
Ahdieh really stepped up with this sumptuous sequel, expanding both her world-building and allowing us to get to know the Court of Lion’s members far more. I loved getting to hear from some new viewpoints and her writing style is just so, so beautiful and rich.
Full review here.

Love on the Main Stage by S.A. Domingo
⭐️
This is a really fun, entertaining read that perfectly reminded me of summer and the magic of music and food. It’s incredibly binegable as Domingo sweeps you up in her sweet romance.
Full review here.

You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
💙 ⭐️ 🧠🏳️🌈
This is such an amazing book that you need in your life. It’s heartfelt, funny and crackles with wit and joy. Every character feels like a real teenager and the romance is so soft, sweet and believable. Full review here.
The Chosen Ones:

All of these books look amazing. I definitely think I’m going to have to check some of them out and add them to my list! Great post ❤
